Our Green Collar Jobs Program provides at-risk young people in Northern Arizona with paid opportunities to develop valuable job skills while doing work that helps address important environmental challenges. We hire Ponderosa High School (PHS) students and work with youth from the Coconino County Juvenile Detention Center Transition School (JDCTS). This program is an educational and vocational training program designed to prepare underprivileged and/or impoverished 17-22 year olds to take part in the important and fulfilling work of habitat restoration and urban agriculture.
MENTORSHIP, EMPOWERMENT, AND EDUCATION
Gardening with Terra BIRDS provides young workers with an entry into the green collar economy and hands-on experience to develop teamwork and problem solving skills, patience, critical thinking and self discovery.
A PLACE TO LEARN, GROW, AND TAKE FLIGHT
Many youth in our community do not have the parental involvement or positive role models to help them develop the life skills, motivation, and discipline to successfully transition into the workplace. Terra BIRDS provides young people with a safe environment to explore career opportunities and set positive goals for their future selves. We engage young people in a morale-boosting, progressive sector of the economy that offers many clear pathways for personal growth, increased income, and community betterment.
